There's something about a Vermont family camp in June that makes for the most genuine engagement photos. That's exactly where I got to spend an afternoon with Kristen and Dakoda for their engagement session in Bethel, Vermont, wandering his family's camp property and letting the landscape do a lot of the storytelling.

If you've lived in Vermont for more than a summer, you know the forecast is more of a suggestion than a promise, and partway through our session the skies opened up. Honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the day. Kristen and Dakoda rolled with it without missing a beat. A little rain never ruins a session; it just changes the mood.

This couple was an absolute joy to photograph — sweet, easygoing, clearly head-over-heels for each other. We laughed our way through a slightly soggy afternoon, and I left so genuinely excited for their wedding next fall, which I know is going to be full of that same warmth and beautiful Vermont scenery.
